Ci troviamo nell’anno 2805 e la Terra è abbandonata da ormai 700 anni a causa degli elevati livelli di rifiuti ed inquinamento che hanno reso il pianeta inabitabile per qualsiasi essere vivente.

Il nostro protagonista è un piccolo robot di nome Wall-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class), lasciato nella Terra insieme ad altri robot del suo genere con il compito di ripulire l’intero pianeta per far ritornare un giorno l’intera umanità, che intanto viaggiava nello spazio senza meta a bordo della lussuosa stazione spaziale Axiom, dove le persone, ormai diventate troppo pigre e in sovrappeso, vivono una vita monotona davanti a schermi e perennemente seduti su delle poltrone fluttuanti senza alzarsi o interagire fisicamente con gli altri. 

Dopo pochi anni dalla partenza degli umani, gli altri robot si disattivano automaticamente eccetto Wall-E, che rimane solo per secoli a sistemare le montagne di rifiuti nella superficie terrestre. 

In questo lasso di tempo, oltre a pulire, separare i rifiuti e raggrupparli, ogni sera tornando a casa porta con sé degli oggetti che ritiene interessanti. Tra questi troviamo una videocassetta del film “Hello Dolly”, che ogni volta che lo riguarda fa nascere in lui emozioni forti e la voglia di trovare una compagna con cui 

ballare e vivere per sempre, facendoci capire come lui abbia sviluppato una personalità umana. Questo suo sogno si avvera quando un giorno atterra sulla Terra un’astronave che rilascia Eve (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator), un robot femmina più evoluto di lui e facente parte di una flotta di robot inviati sul pianeta in perlustrazione segreta per conto degli umani, che attendono impazientemente notizie 

per sapere quando sarà sicuro tornare a casa. Il nostro Wall-E si innamora immediatamente di Eve e le offre una piantina che aveva trovato il giorno 

prima. Eve la prende e si disattiva all’istante perché il suo compito di trovare qualsiasi forma vivente era compiuto. Il piccolo robot preoccupato rimane con lei e non la lascia sola. Arrivata l’astronave che doveva riportare Eve nella Axiom, l’innamorato senza pensarci due volte la segue e, finalmente a bordo della 

stazione, la loro avventura contro robot contrari al ritorno del genere umano nel proprio pianeta comincia. Il film, con la sua avvincente regia e sceneggiatura, riesce ad emozionare i più piccoli grazie ad una trama affascinante e coinvolgente, ma allo stesso tempo è in grado di far riflettere ognuno, adulti compresi, sulla 

situazione attuale della società moderna. È perciò un chiaro invito di riflessione sui danni che provoca la pigrizia e i consumi elevati e inutili della gente, ma soprattutto sull’ecologia e sul problema che tutt’ora stiamo affrontando: i rifiuti e l’inquinamento.

We’re in the 2805 and the Earth has been abandoned for more than 700 years because of the high levels of garbage and pollution that has made the planet hostile for any living being. Our main character is a small robot named Wall-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class), which was left in the Earth with other robots like him with the task of cleaning up the entire planet to make sure that 

one day the entire humanity could return. Meanwhile, the humanity is travelling in the space without a destination aboard the luxurious space station of Axiom, where people, now become too lazy and overweight, live a monotonous life in front of screens and permanently sitting on floating armchairs without getting up or physically interacting with others. After a few years from the departure of humans, other robots automatically deactivated except for Wall-E, who remained alone for centuries while cleaning up the mountains of garbage in the earth’s surface. Throughout the ages, apart from cleaning, separating the waste and grouping it, getting back home every evening, he used to bring with him some objects that he considered interesting. Among them we can find a videotape of the film "Hello Dolly", which would provoke strong feelings anytime he watched it, as well 

as the desire to find a partner with whom he could dance and live with forever, showing us how he has developed a human personality. His dream came true the day a spaceship landed on Earth and released Eve (Extra-terrestrial Vegetation 

Evaluator), a female-like robot more evolved than him and part of a fleet of robots sent to the planet with the secret duty of patrolling on behalf of humans impatiently waiting for news about life sustainability on 

Earth.Wall-E immediately fell in love with Eve and offered her a plant that he found the day before. Eve took it and deactivated instantly because her mission of finding any living form was accomplished. The little robot was so concerned, so he stayed without leaving her alone. Once the spaceship that was supposed to 

bring Eve back to Axiom arrived, Wall-E without thinking twice followed her and, finally on board the station, their adventure against robots against the return of mankind to their planet begins. The film, with its engaging production and screenplay, excites children thanks to its fascinating and involving plot, but at the same time it’s able to make everyone reflect, including adults, on the current 

situation of modern society. It’s a clear invitation to consider the damage caused by laziness and the unnecessary high consumption of goods, but above all it makes us think more about the ecology and the problem that we are still facing nowadays, such as waste and pollution.
